On Monday, 30 June 2025, Catalonia officially launched the campaign “Catalunya, La Millor Cuina del Món” (Catalunya: The Best Cuisine in the World) to mark its title as a World Region of Gastronomy awarded by IGCAT. The launch took place at the iconic Palau de la Música Catalana, gathering over 150 professionals from the region’s gastronomy and agri-food sectors.
One of the most powerful messages of the evening was the equal recognition of chefs and producers, placing them side by side as the true pillars of Catalonia’s gastronomic excellence. The event brought together some of the most internationally acclaimed chefs, including Ferran Adrià, Joan Roca, Carme Ruscalleda, and many others who have shaped Catalonia’s global culinary reputation.
But what made the evening truly special was the presence of producers being acknowledged on the same level as these top chefs. All the guests dressed in black represented the local producers, while those in white were the chefs, symbolising a strong collaboration and mutual respect. It was a clear statement that without dedicated producers, the excellence of Catalan cuisine wouldn’t be possible.
IGCAT was proud to be present at this landmark event, represented by its President, Dr. Diane Dodd, PhD. Dr. Dodd highlighted the importance of recognising producers alongside world-renowned chefs, emphasising the campaign’s powerful message of unity and respect across the food value chain.
A Film That Tells the Full Story
The event featured the launch of a stunning new promotional film. The video is a visual journey from farm to table, celebrating 140 real people from Catalonia’s gastronomic and agri-food world. It shows how food travels across the region, highlighting flavours, traditions, and culture.

Adding charm and emotion, the soundtrack is a fresh version of the beloved “Nyam nyam, bon profit”, a Catalan song closely tied to the act of eating and sharing meals.
Strong Support for the Campaign
The campaign is supported by Catalunya Experience, the Generalitat de Catalunya, and Agricultura Catalunya. It is a powerful example of what happens when tourism, agriculture, and gastronomy work together.
Through this campaign, Catalonia continues to prove that it is a global leader in sustainable and cultural gastronomy. Its recognition as a World Region of Gastronomy by IGCAT is not only well-deserved but also inspiring to other regions.
Bon profit! (Enjoy your meal!)
