If we begin to question the origins of our food, we take the first step towards a deeper understanding and awareness. This awareness can transform our eating habits, helping us restore balance to our bodies and minds, and preserving our natural heritage for future generations.

The Original Warrior Energy Bar
“This humorous short film effectively highlights the traditional Georgian dish, Churchkhela, with a high-quality production, making the viewing experience both enjoyable and engaging for the audience.”
Francisco S. Guitard, Florida
Synopsis

Short film from UK / Georgia

Churchkhela has been a favored snack in many countries for thousands of years. However, despite this, it is still relatively unknown to the wider world. People not familiar with the food often mistake its appearance for a whole number of things ranging from sausages to sticks of dynamite!

Naili Basiladze shows us how to make a traditional Georgian churchkhela with grapes harvested from her own vineyard. Strings of nuts are repeatedly dipped in a mixture of grape juice and flour. Once dry, the finished result is a deliciously sweet stick of churchkhela.

Churchkhela’s extremely long shelf life is a testament to its historical use. Being naturally rich in the calories found within the grape juice, it provided sustenance to Georgian soldiers who would often need to travel long distances.

European Young Chef Award 2023 | Boštjan Volk | Slovenia
“An intriguing and personal young chef’s testimony
to the influence of landscapes, natural environment,
bee-keeping traditions and food producers
in Slovenia.”
Francisco S. Guitard, Florida
Synopsis

Short film from Slovenia, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2021

With this video, Boštjan Volk represented Slovenia at the European Young Chef Award 2023 in France. The video shows his story and the importance of bees for life on Earth. It is a tribute to bees and beekeepers for their work and effort. Otherwise we wouldn’t be on earth anymore.

“I would like that this video reaches as many people as possible so that we are aware of the importance of bees for humans. My place, my work and my life are presented in those 3 minutes. I love to work and incorporate nature into my plates and that’s how this wonderful video came about. I stick to the principle of local and fresh, which can also be seen in the video. The most important thing is that I use 100% of the food/ingredients in cooking and I am very much in favor of the principle of zero waste. Which I proved in the competition with not a gram of wasted food” says Boštjan.
