Aliki Moschis-Gauguet Welcomed At IGCAT To Discuss Plans For Rhodes 2021

On 2nd – 3rd June 2015, the director of IGCAT, Diane Dodd, welcomed Aliki Moschis-Gauguet to Barcelona to discuss plans for Rhodes European Capital of Culture 2021. IGCAT’s Director provided Ms Moschis-Gauguet with her expertise and advice to support Rhodes’s bid for the ECOC 2021.  The meeting aimed at identifying and mapping the existing cultural offer of Rhodes and discussing strategies to foster local inclusion in the project and  regional as well as international cooperation.

It has been a pleasure for IGCAT to receive Aliki Moschis-Gauguet, who has an illustrious career dedicated to the promotion of intercultural understanding and arts as a tool for peace and conflict resolution.  Aliki Moschis-Gauguet is currently the International President of FAM Network (Femme-Art-Mediterranee), that she founded in 1998, operating under the Aegis of UNESCO. Amongst many functions, Aliki Moschis is Honorary Consul of France for the Dodecanese Islands /Greece. She has been elected “Woman of Europe” in 2004 at the European Parliament for her “outstanding contribution in the promotion of dialogue and understanding between different cultures and civilizations” and France’s Knight of the National Order of Merit in 2008.

Diane Dodd was highly impressed by Aliki Moschis-Gauguet’s vision for Rhodes and is confident that she is the right person to coordinate the bid which will be a collaborative effort, utilising the energy and commitment of public, private and third sector institutions.
