Anu-Anette Varho is a Project Specialist, Interior Architect and Designer who has worked in a wide range of cultural projects and regional development. Design of services and facilitiesas well as promoting local talent and collaborating with communities have been central in many of herprojects. Her multidisciplinary skills also include planning and developing events, communication and operating models.She hasworked in architectural frms that designinteriors forpublic spacessuch asthe Musiikkitaloconcert and event venue in Helsinki, shopping centers, educational institutions and restaurants.

After further studies in Switzerland, shebecame interested in the global-local interface of culture. She was appointed South Savonia’s Regional Artist for Visual Surroundings and Design, to work with managing regional design, events production and promoting the Finnish government’s Percent for Art scheme. She has also worked as aRegional Coordinator for the Suomi Finland 100 Centenary,the largest and most diverse oficial anniversary celebrations in Finland.

For the last fve years or more, she has been working on the promotion of cultural and food tourism in the Saimaa region. First in the European Capital of Culture Project and now in the European Region of Gastronomy Project. She believes that cultural and food tourism is about the holistic experience, from ambience to smells and tastes, authentic stories and visitor-centered services. Since 2024, she has contributed her expertise as an IGCAT Expert.
