The Italian edition of Vanity Fair magazine talked about the opening event of East Lombardy – European Region of Gastronomy 2017 involving the cities of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona and Mantua. The presentation of the project took place in the framework of the Identità Golose gastronomic congress in Milan on 4-6 March 2017, where 100 celebrity chefs coming from 12 different countries went on stage to share their knowledge with the audience.
Among them, Massimo Bottura chef of the three-starred restaurant Osteria Francescana in Modena (Italy) and number 1 in World’s 50 Best ranking, who talked about the current rebirth of Italian cuisine around the world.
The congress featured also interventions from Paul Pairet, French chef at the Ultraviolet restaurant in Shanghai, who matched his dishes with music; the Italian Gennaro Nasti, owner of two renowned pizzerias in Paris; and Davide Oldani, chef of D’O restaurant in Cornaredo (Milan) and ambassador of Expo Milan 2015.

The Regions of Gastronomy Platform and the European Region of Gastronomy Award aim to contribute to better quality of life in European regions, by highlighting distinctive food cultures, educating for better health and sustainability and stimulating gastronomic innovation. Candidate regions are invited to join a knowledge-exchange platform of European regions in order to further cross-border collaborations and develop shared initiatives.
