IGCAT tiene como objetivo empoderar a las comunidades locales creando conciencia sobre la importancia de proteger y promover los distintos activos regionales, alimentarios, culturales, artísticos y naturales como parte de estrategias de desarrollo y turismo sostenibles y equilibrados. Esto es esencial para salvaguardar nuestro planeta, la salud, el bienestar y las economías locales.
IGCAT es un instituto sin fines de lucro establecido en 2010, que trabaja con consorcios regionales de partes interesadas en los campos de la gastronomía, la cultura, las artes y el turismo. Cuenta con la experiencia de una red mundial de expertos y trabaja en asociación con organizaciones intergubernamentales especializadas.
IGCAT otorga el Premio de la Región Europea y Mundial de la Gastronomía y es la secretaría oficial de las Plataformas de las Regiones Mundiales y Europeas de la Gastronomía. Además, el Instituto ha desarrollado el European Young Chef Award, el World Food Gift Challenge, el Top Websites for Foodie Travelers Award y el Food Film Menu.
Cumbre Mundial de Gastronomía 2025
Organizado por IGCAT y auspiciado por la Generalitat de Catalunya, el 27 de septiembre de 2025 tendrá lugar en Cataluña, Región Mundial de la Gastronomía 2025.
El evento reunirá a expertos internacionales, responsables políticos y líderes culturales para explorar el papel de los alimentos en la configuración de futuros más sostenibles e inclusivos.
