IGCAT is back and presents its new team

After a short break in August, IGCAT is getting back to work with renewed energy and is pleased to introduce you its new international team, selected to continue, to improve and to build current and new projects.  The most important appointment is the new Deputy Director Davinia Galea who will principally be in charge of project sponsorship and fundraising.  At the same time, we are pleased to welcome two new associates, Jordi Vegas and Le Minh Tuan.

The team profile now looks like this:

Diane Dodd PhD
Diane Dodd is Director of IGCAT and the European Region of Gastronomy Platform and Award. She is also European coordinator for the global network IFACCA (International Federation of Arts Councils and Cultural Agencies). She leads an MA course in Cultural Institutions and Policies for the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona, and an MA course on Events and Destination management for EUHTSTPol. She is an independent evaluator for the Cultural Routes programme of the Council of Europe and editor of a number of Cultural Policy and Cultural Management publications for the European Cultural Foundation (ECF).  She is co-author of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth European Capitals of Culture Reports (published by ATLAS in 2015, 2014, 2012 and 2011). She has provided expert advise to Plovdiv 2019, Fundación Valletta 2018 and Fundación Burgos 2016 in preparation for their respective bids to be European Capital of Culture and is currently engaged as a consultant with Arad 2021, Romania and Rhodes 2021, Greece. Diane has worked in the cultural policy and management field for over 20 years and maintains relations with a numbe rof important Global and European Institutions  SEE FULL PROFILE

Davinia Galea
Davinia Galea has recently been appointed Deputy Director of IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism) after working in the cultural sector for more than thirty years in various roles including musician, cultural event producer, policy maker and CEO. In 2014 she set up a company, ARC Research and Consultancy, which has been appointed as the Malta Hub, the local contact point for the European Festivals Association (EFA) project Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe (EFFE).  She was one of the leading authors and drivers behind the cultural policy for Malta and major contributor to the bid for Malta hosting the World Summit on Arts and Culture and Valletta’s successful bid to be European Capital of Culture 2018. She is also the former Executive Director of the Malta Council for Arts and Culture. SEE FULL PROFILE

Jordi Vegas Macias
Jordi Vegas Macias has recently taken on the role of Office and Projects Manager at IGCAT with a special interest in Local Development and Sustainable Tourism. Having first developed a career in hospitality, he is now completing a Bachelor in Tourism  at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Barcelona. SEE FULL PROFILE

Clara Melluish
Clara Melluish is an IGCAT associate. Her background lies in theatre and languages but in 2013, she chose to retrain in the field of cultural relations. She graduated from the Cultural Policy, Relations and Diplomacy MA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in February 2015. She is particularly interested in gastronomy as a tool for soft power and nation branding and is currently co-authoring a report on Gastrodiplomacy with IGCAT’s Director Diane Dodd. Previous writings include French wines as a tool for cultural diplomacy in China, as well as a Masters thesis on gastrodiplomacy. SEE FULL PROFILE

Nuria Castellanos Llaussas
Nuria Castellanos is an IGCAT associate. She has a bachelor in Tourism (Universitat de Girona, Catalonia) and a European Master in Tourism Management (Southern Denmark University; University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and Universitat de Girona, Catalonia) and a Master in International Marketing with Tourism & Events (Edinburgh Napier University, United Kingdom and IPAG École de Commerce Nice, France). Le Minh Tuan

Le Minh Tuan is the news and research Officer at IGCAT. After finishing a bachelor in Business Administration, he became a lecturer in Marketing and Tourism from 2009 at Hospitality and Tourism faculty, Hue University,Vietnam. After 4 year of teaching and involving some tourism projects, in 2014 he got a Netherlands Fellowship Programmes (NFP) scholarship from the Dutch government to follow 2-year Master program in Leisure, Tourism and Environment at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. Marina Simião

Tourism bachelor, Marina Simião has been working in managing and consulting for development tourism and culture projects and programes since 2000. Specialist in Tourism Management and in Creative cities and creative entrepreunership for Córdoba University. Started as project manager in 2013 for Minas Gerais Creative Program and was the first responsable for the Gastronomy Board at Minas Gerais Tourism Office. Marina is also member of Gastronomy Defense, Promotion and Reasearch Board in Minas Gerais, a group formed by professionals, institutions and government representation that works looking forward to make Gastronomy a strategic development sector in the state of Minas Gerais.SEE FULL PROFILE
