Dr. Smiljana Pivčević

Dr. Smiljana Pivčević is a Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism (FEBT), University of Split, Croatia, and a tourism researcher working at the intersection of sustainability, governance, and innovation. Her work is strongly grounded in the Mediterranean context, with a focus on local community value creation and the role of culture and events in strengthening destination strategies, regional identity, and competitiveness. Dr. Pivčević he has extensive experience in international research and development projects (Horizon 2020, Interreg, ERASMUS+, ESF), as well as in numerous expert assignments in regional and local destination management and marketing projects. She has held various management positions at FEBT and has received multiple awards from public institutions, the University of Split, and FEBT for her teaching, research, and community engagement. Dr. Pivčević is a member of the Scientific Council of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the European Regional Science Association, and serves as an international external evaluator for quality in higher education.
