Tourism Manifesto welcomes EC’s package on Tourism and Transport

Following the publication of the European Commission’s guidance on how to safely resume travel and reboot Europe’s tourism in 2020 and beyond, the European Tourism Manifesto alliance published an official statement to applaud this initiative that recognises the vital role the travel and tourism sector plays in the European economy and employment.

As member organisation of the Tourism Manifesto, IGCAT shares the alliance’s favourable view on the adoption of a comprehensive package on Tourism and Transport by the European Commission which “represents a first and important step to facilitate travel in Europe, support the sector’s recovery from this unprecedented crisis and enable a more sustainable tourism ecosystem in the future.”

In particular, the statement urges Member States to follow the European Commission’s recommendations for a coordinated lift of travel restrictions and a harmonised implementation of health and safety protocols, as well as to keep supporting their tourism ecosystems and increase their resilience.
