Dr. Cherise Addinsall

Senior Research Fellow – Pacific Regenerative Agritourism, University of the Sunshine Coast

Dr. Cherise Addinsall is a Senior Research Fellow for Pacific Regenerative Agritourism with the University of the Sunshine Coast and a member of the Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research. Cherise also has a role as strategic mentor for Regenerative Vanua in which she supported the NGO’s establishment through Critical Participatory Action Research Project funded by the Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR).

Dr. Addinsall is a certified trainer for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and the Regenerative Agritourism Coordinator for the Global Agritourism Network. Cherise’s research focuses on applying a critical participatory action research approach to regenerative agritourism, and sustainable and regenerative tourism policy and planning to support wellbeing and meaningful engagement of Indigenous people in tourism and agriculture in the Pacific. She uses an iterative and interdisciplinary approach to research which builds on local knowledge and understanding of existing situations within the target communities. Her approach supports community decisions regarding livelihoods and development and includes taking the needs of women/other genders and vulnerable groups into account, leading to informed, more sustainable, and just outcomes.

Cherise is currently project lead for the ACIAR SSS/2021/120 Our Vanua Project. Since 2024, she has contributed her expertise as an IGCAT Expert.
