Amalia Tzikou is an internal auditor for the South Aegean Region. With over 20 years of experience, she has also served as a food safety, health, and environmental inspector in the South Aegean Region.
In 2023, she was part of the preparation and organization team for the 4th World Food Gift Challenge held on Kos Island. Since 2021, she has represented the South Aegean Region in IGCAT’s European and World Region of Gastronomy platform meetings.
Amalia has designed and led numerous training programs focusing on food safety, water safety, and specific diseases. She was responsible for developing the South Aegean Region’s training programs for reopening tourism businesses during the COVID-19 crisis in 2020 and 2021.
From 2016 to 2017, she represented the South Aegean Region in the SH-CAPAC European program, which supported countries dealing with migration pressures. Additionally, she is an EU-certified health inspector for vessels and cruise ships.
Amalia is passionate about promoting the production and market demand for local products, seeing them as key drivers for development, sustainability, environmental economy, and cultural preservation within the region. Since 2024, she has contributed her expertise as an IGCAT Expert.
