Carlos R. Ortiz-Gómez is a data scientist and systems architect working at the intersection of culinary heritage, computational structure, and cultural policy. He is the creator of Amanah, a platform for preserving culinary knowledge, and UMF (Ummi Markup Format), a structured language that represents recipes as lineage-aware systems rather than static documents.

With over 15 years of experience across financial services, energy policy, and medical-device manufacturing, Carlos currently serves as Head of Analytics at RappiCard (Banorte), where he leads enterprise analytics in a regulated environment.

His work focuses on making culinary knowledge transferable, auditable, and globally accessible while preserving its origin and cultural context. In parallel, he is the founder of ClearBand Analytics, developing governance frameworks for interpretable and auditable machine learning systems.

Carlos holds degrees from the Harvard Kennedy School and the University of California, Berkeley, and brings a cross-cultural perspective shaped by his work across Mexico and the United States. Since 2026, he has been recognised as an Expert by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT).
