Prof. Alessandra Gentile

Prof. Alessandra Gentile is a Full Professor at the University of Catania, Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment. With a Ph.D. in Plant Productivity and a degree in Agricultural Sciences, she is a leading expert in the genetic improvement of fruit trees, combining traditional breeding and advanced biotechnological approaches. Her research focuses on plant tissue culture, germplasm conservation, and molecular marker-assisted breeding. 

Prof. Gentile has coordinated numerous national and international projects, including H2020 and PRIMA initiatives, and served in high-level academic and scientific governance roles. She has over 250 scientific publications, co-edited key volumes on citrus genomics and arboriculture, and is a co-founder of the spin-off AgriUniTech. Her contributions have been recognized through roles in prestigious academies and scientific societies, as well as international collaborations in Israel, China, and across Europe.
