Abdelkader Chaabane
Expert in Sustainable Tourism, Gastronomy and Territorial Development
With more than 20 years of experience, Abdelkader Chaabane is a senior consultant specializing in sustainable tourism, territorial development, gastronomy, and support for non-governmental organizations. Based in Tunisia, he has led large-scale projects in alternative tourism, destination management (DMO), and the promotion of local food heritage, bringing a strategic and sustainable approach to the revitalization of territories.
A strong advocate for using gastronomy as a driver for sustainable development, Abdelkader coordinated the creation of the award-winning book Djerba, l’île aux saveurs, named Best Gastronomic Tourism Book in French worldwide in 2023. He actively promotes local products, sustainable agriculture, and social inclusion through rural and women’s entrepreneurship, contributing to a more circular and inclusive economy.
He is an accredited consultant in destination management by the World Center of Excellence for Destinations (CED Canada/UNWTO), and a committed member of several gastronomic and cultural networks, including La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs in Tunisia. His multidisciplinary background spans public, private, non-profit, and international cooperation sectors, allowing him to bring integrated solutions tailored to each local context.
In addition to his consulting activities, he contributes to sectoral research, the development of tourism strategies, professional training programs, and serves as a juror for national awards recognizing terroir products and culinary excellence.
