Mike Keen

Chef, Adventurer
Advocate for Sustainable Food Systems

Mike Keen is a chef and adventurer based in the east of England, dedicated to exploring ancestral diets and their role in shaping sustainable global food systems. He spends much of his time immersed in indigenous communities, adopting traditional eating practices to uncover insights into how humans have sustained themselves for millennia.

Mike has spent several seasons in Greenland, living on an ancestral Inuit diet. His experiences include a remarkable 2,200 km solo kayaking expedition along Greenland’s west coast, sustained entirely by traditional foods. With comprehensive medical testing before and after each journey, Mike analyzes the physiological impact of these diets and shares hisfindings to inspire discussions about healthier, more sustainable ways of eating.

By challenging modern reliance on processed foods, Mike’s work bridges the gap between ancestral eating practices and the need to feed a growing global population responsibly. Since 2024, he has contributed his expertise as an IGCAT Expert.
