IGCAT Executive Board meeting

The Executive Board of IGCAT met on 29 November 2015 to discuss statute changes in order to facilitate its role as the official secretariat of the European Region of Gastronomy Platform.  The concept for a European Region of Gastronomy Award was developed by IGCAT experts in 2012 and during 2013 and 2014 a number of European regions were consulted on how their needs and the what he focus areas of such an award should be.  In the process of organising the award, participating regions announced their need for a long-term platform that could support cross-marketing initiatives and the develop cooperation projects.   IGCAT proposed the setting up of a Platform as a second circle of membership within the non-profit association IGCAT and this was approved at a meeting in North Brabant in April 2014. Since then, it has bee agreed that four members of the Platform will sit on the IGCAT board and all fee paying regions are recognised as members of the association with voting rights and will be able to participate in the General Assembly of IGCAT.  The Executive Board also welcomed the nomination of Edith Szivas (https://igcat.org/db/profiles/profile.php?id=8189) to take the post of Treasurer and thanked outgoing Treasurer Jordi Fabragàs for his commitment to IGCAT since its creation in 2010.  A meeting of the full board is due to take place in early 2016 to ratify all the changes.
