IGCAT expert and theatre director, Jessica Litwak joined IGCAT for four intensive working days in August, to share her wisdom, techniques and templates for building a theatre script with IGCAT’s President Dr. Diane Dodd.
The play script is the brainchild of Diane Dodd that has been brought to life through improvisation with Jessica Litwak. Litwak is a multi-disciplinary international theatre leader, recognised in the field of Theatre for Social Change. Litwak has a Ph.D. in Leadership and Change and is a Fulbright Scholar. Her plays have been produced across the United States at theatres such as Rattlestick, The Goodman Theater and La MaMa. She is an educator with over thirty years of experience and teaches workshops around the world. She joined IGCAT in 2016 because she shares the associations philosophy to use creativity to share messages about food and cultural diversity.
The play that is provisionally entitled Be(e) Brave narrates the story of a farmer and his wife and a young food producer that are navigating the complicated corporate food world. It has hidden messages about our need to save bees and support organic agricultural practices.
The play will be put to the test in a reading with actors in December 2018 and the final version should be ready to go to production early 2019.
