From 19–22 May 2026, UNESCO’s Africa Week will shine a spotlight on water, youth, culture, and sustainable development across the continent. This dynamic event, hosted at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, featured conferences, high-level panels, youth activities, exhibitions, cinema, gastronomy, a book fair, and a gala, all designed to foster dialogue and innovation.
Key highlights included:
- A ministerial panel on “Water security as a driver of Agenda 2063” (19 May);
- “The Voice” session, giving young entrepreneurs a platform to discuss water and sanitation solutions;
- The Youth Hub, showcasing innovations by young African leaders throughout the week;
- Panels on digital transformation, social inclusion, and water-related cultural heritage;
- An NGO Forum on women and Indigenous knowledge in peacebuilding (22 May).
The week concluded with a closing ceremony featuring recommendations and artistic performances.
