Cultivating Hope: Support the Slow Food Network in Africa

The International Institute of Gastronomy, Arts, Culture and Tourism (IGCAT) believes that sustainable food systems start from the ground up. That’s why we are proud to spotlight Slow Food in Africa, an incredible initiative that has grown a network of over 3,700 active gardens since 2011.

These gardens are more than just plots of land, they are hubs of resilience. Located in schools, cities, and villages across 35 countries, they empower communities to:

  • Protect African biodiversity and traditional food cultures;
  • Support local economies and food sovereignty;
  • Nurture a new generation of leaders in sustainable agriculture;

The Vision Forward
The goal is to create thousands of new gardens, catalog endangered products, and establish new Earth Markets to support farmers, herders, and fishers, with a specific focus on investing in women and youth.

How You Can Help
One garden is a drop in the ocean, but a network of thousands is a powerful voice against intensive agriculture and a beacon for food sovereignty.

Whether it is a single gift or a monthly contribution, your donation directly funds scholarships, biodiversity mapping, and community education.
