The 5th International Euro-Mediterranean Conference (EuroMed 2014), devoted to Cultural Heritage (CH), is being held on the 3rd-8th of November at the entrance of the ancient Amathus city, by Limassol, in Cyprus island. EuroMed brings together researchers, policy makers, professionals and practitioners to explore some of the more pressing issues concerning cultural heritage today. In particular, this year the conference will focus on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research on tangible and intangible CH, on the use of cutting-edge technologies for protection, restoration, preservation, massive digitization, documentation and presentation of the CH content. At the same time, the event is intended to cover topics of research ready for exploitation, demonstrating the acceptability of new sustainable approaches and new technologies by the user community, SMEs, owners, managers and conservators of cultural patrimony.
RICHES and E-Space new EU-funded projects, respectively in the field of “Social-Sciences and Humanities” and of “Creative re-use of Digital Cultural Heritage”, plan to participate in the conference with a presentation of their workplan and objectives.
Researchers who wish to take part in the event are invited to submit papers on original and unpublished works addressing the following subjects:
1) PROTECTION, RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION OF TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE CH;
2) DIGITAL HERITAGE
Submission of papers and supplementary materials is completely electronic and to be done through the on-line submission website. Only original, unpublished works written in English are accepted. Three types of contributions are accepted:
• Full research papers (max. 10 pages in total, incl. 600 dpi images and bibliography), presenting new innovative results. They will have a full-length oral presentation and be published in a high-quality proceedings volume;
• Project papers (max. 10 pages in total, incl. 600 dpi images and bibliography), focusing on the description of project organization, use of technology and lesson learned. They will have a short oral presentation and be included in a “FULL and Projects Papers” proceedings volume;
• Short papers (max. 6 pages in total, incl. 600 dpi images and bibliography), presenting preliminary ideas and works in progress. They will have a short oral presentation and will be available as posters in during the entire conference. They will be published in the “Short Papers” proceedings volume.
