IGCAT experts and stakeholders in food, education, culture, agriculture, arts, hospitality, tourism and many other sectors from the World and European Regions of Gastronomy took part in the Engaging Young Minds webinar, held on 20 October 2022 and attended by over 150 participants from 35 countries across the globe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Organised by\u00a0IGCAT<\/strong>, the event highlighted good practices and pioneering projects involving the young people in the awarded World\/European Regions of Gastronomy and beyond, inviting cross-sectoral perspectives on how to engage and activate young talent in the quest to build a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Education and awareness building on the importance of cultural and food diversity is more urgent than ever and therefore this meeting is about finding out how we can do more\u00a0\u00bb, expressed President of IGCAT,\u00a0Diane Dodd PhD<\/strong>,\u00a0when she\u00a0opened the webinar with a focus on how the World\/European Region of Gastronomy Platform is empowering and engaging younger generations.<\/p>\n

Dr. Maria J. Cantalejo\u00a0from the Public University of Navarra presented the Erasmus+ co-funded project\u00a0NEMOS \u2013 A new educational model for acquisition of sustainability competences through service learning<\/strong>\u00a0and demonstrated clearly that both educators and students want more focus and support on sustainability in education.<\/p>\n

Social\u00a0Integration and Food Diversity<\/strong>;\u00a0Building Pride in Food Heritage<\/strong>;\u00a0Integrating Sustainability Competences In Education<\/strong>;\u00a0Building Criteria for Food Sustainability<\/strong>;\u00a0Empowering Young Minds<\/strong>;\u00a0Preserving Bees and pollinators<\/strong>;\u00a0Food for the Future\u00a0<\/strong>were topics of the breakout sessions and group discussions with expertise from global experts and young entrepreneurs and students.<\/p>\n

Each of the sessions aimed at providing recommendations on how IGCAT and the World\/European Regions of Gastronomy Platform can push the education agenda further and generate better opportunities for young people through sustainable and creative initiatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are building a movement for a better future and this wouldn\u2019t be possible without all the amazing projects that are taking place on the ground in the Regions of Gastronomy,\u201d stated Diane Dodd when praising all the initiatives that were presented during the webinar.<\/p>\n

Organised as the\u00a09th<\/sup>\u00a0Annual IGCAT Expert Meeting\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a01st<\/sup>\u00a0Multiplier Event of the<\/strong> NEMOS project<\/a>, the Engaging Young Minds webinar was also the occasion to announce the winners of the International Food Film Menu 2022 Public Vote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n

About the NEMOS project<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0NEMOS project<\/a>\u00a0acknowledges sustainability as an increasingly crucial skill for graduate and post-graduate students to tackle important global challenges such as climate change, food waste and the loss of biodiversity in their professional future. Therefore, the project aims to define a new educational model to integrate sustainability competences in the curricula of food-related degrees by means of service learning.<\/p>\n

Co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, the NEMOS project is led by the\u00a0Public University of Navarra<\/a>\u00a0and includes the following consortium partners:\u00a0Technological University Dublin<\/a>\u00a0(Ireland);\u00a0Technological University Graz<\/a>\u00a0(Austria);\u00a0Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes Higher Institute of Agriculture<\/a>\u00a0(France);\u00a0University of Pisa<\/a>\u00a0(Italy); and\u00a0IGCAT<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
