At least one major political party thinks it has the answer.<\/p>\n<p>This week, New Zealand&rsquo;s Green Party unveiled an ambitious plan to get the country back to work and the gears of industry turning once again, in environmentally friendly fashion.<\/p>\n<p>So what does a billion-dollar stimulus plan buy, according to New Zealand&rsquo;s Green Party? For one thing \u2014 and likely at the top of everyone&rsquo;s minds \u2014 the plan would create jobs. It promises to create employment for 7,000 people over the next three years, all in industries that have been pummeled by the pandemic. For New Zealand, that would be tourism. But the catch is these would be \u00ab\u00a0green\u00a0\u00bb jobs, with people working to help build and sustain the country&rsquo;s chief tourism draw: nature.<\/p>\n<p>The plan calls for plenty of building projects, only they would focus not just on reviving the economy, but also the environment.<\/p>\n<p>The [<em>Green<\/em>] party, which is part of a ruling coalition, has yet to officially present it to the legislature. For now, it&rsquo;s been adopted as Green Party policy.<\/p>\n<p>As scientists noted in their statement this week, the world needs \u00ab\u00a0transformative change\u00a0\u00bb across the board.
