Engaging local stakeholders to build local networks is one of the main goals of FOODBIZ \u2013 University and business learning for new employability paths in food and gastronomy<\/em><\/strong>, an Erasmus+<\/strong> funded project involving four European universities committed to strengthen key employability skills of higher education students in the field of food and gastronomy.<\/p>\n The project\u2019s state of play was discussed during the third project meeting held at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) on 15-16 January 2019. The meeting gathered representatives from the eight partners involved in the FOODBIZ<\/a> consortium: the\u00a0University of Macerata<\/strong>\u00a0(Italy) as leading partner;\u00a0the University of Gothenburg<\/strong>\u00a0(Sweden); the\u00a0Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management\u00a0of the\u00a0University of Rijeka<\/strong>\u00a0(Croatia); Poznan<\/strong>\u00a0University of Economics and Business <\/strong>(Poland); the Piceno Lab of the Mediterranean Diet<\/strong> (Italy); the Svinesund Committee<\/strong>\u00a0(Sweden); the\u00a0European Cultural Tourism Network<\/strong>\u00a0(ECTN); and the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism<\/strong> (IGCAT), represented by Research Officer, Fabrizia Toccoli.<\/p>\n Discussion focused on the activities carried out so far by each university to boost co-creation<\/strong> processes between students and businesses operating in the local food markets and identify crucial learning needs<\/strong>. Furthermore, partners shared views on how to capitalise on those activities\u2019 outcomes in order to develop online learning resources addressing the diagnosed learning gaps.<\/p>\n IGCAT will be in charge of drafting the FOODBIZ guidelines<\/strong>, thought to guide the implementation of the project in other communities in the future. The document will be presented together with the project\u2019s results at FOODBIZ Final Conference<\/strong>, to be hosted by Poznan University of Economics and Business in October 2019.<\/p>\n Developed in the framework of the action on\u00a0Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education<\/em>\u00a0of the\u00a0Erasmus+ programme, \u201cFOODBIZ aims at promoting acquisition of relevant skills and competences related to employability<\/strong> in higher education students through their active involvement in community learning<\/strong> activities\u201d as highlighted on the project\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism. It counts on the expertise of a worldwide\u00a0network of experts<\/a>\u00a0and works in partnership with specialised intergovernmental organisations.<\/p>\n IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by guiding, facilitating, and supporting leaders in regions to understand the potential of their distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.<\/p>\n IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0provides the\u00a0Region of Gastronomy Award<\/a>\u00a0and is the official secretariat for the\u00a0European Region of Gastronomy Platform<\/a>.
