The\u00a0European Region of Gastronomy 2019 title was recommended to be given to two bidding regions, South Aegean (Greece) and Sibiu (Romania), on Thursday 29 September 2016 at the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu. The announcement took place\u00a0prior to the 9th European Region of Gastronomy Platform Meeting.<\/p>\n

The international jury comprising of IGCAT experts\u00a0was\u00a0chaired\u00a0by\u00a0Blanca Cros<\/strong>\u00a0from the Catalan Tourist Agency (Spain), and included\u00a0Peter Astrup<\/strong>, Central Denmark Region (Denmark);\u00a0Anna Blaua<\/strong>, Delightfully Delicious Destination Project at Riga Tourism Development Bureau (Latvia); Alfred van Mameren<\/strong>, Province of Noord-Brabant (Netherlands)\u00a0and;\u00a0Ilona Sares<\/strong>, ProAgria\u00a0Kuopio\u00a0(Finland).<\/p>\n

The jury was impressed with the work undertaken by both candidates regions in preparing and presenting their bids remarked that they had both:<\/p>\n
