{"id":12264,"date":"2016-09-28T08:13:28","date_gmt":"2016-09-28T08:13:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igcat.org\/?p=12264"},"modified":"2016-10-01T07:14:12","modified_gmt":"2016-10-01T07:14:12","slug":"developing-ideas-for-sustainable-destinations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igcat.org\/fr\/developing-ideas-for-sustainable-destinations\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing ideas for sustainable destinations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IGCAT recently received international expert, Dr. Carlos Fernandes from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal.\u00a0 During his visit, he reported on the work that Minho is doing as European Region of Gastronomy 2016 in terms of development and\u00a0 empowerment of local establishments.\u00a0 As one of the founder regions holding the European Region of Gastronomy title, Minho&rsquo;s experience is important in the current review of the guidelines for the award. Together with the President of IGCAT and Executive Director of the European Region of Gastronomy, Dr. Diane Dodd they discussed many aspects of the award and listed new criteria that could\u00a0 be included into the guidelines for future regions wishing to hold the award.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dr. Carlos Fernandes wrote the successful bid book for Minho, European Region of Gastronomy 2016 and he is an IGCAT Expert and Board Member. His research is currently focussed\u00a0 on developing the host-guest relationship that can empower local SMEs from the hospitality sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism) organises the award with the support of European institutions.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=es&amp;q=https:\/\/igcat.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1473936853555000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE6OjKpfARqABHpi9nnWCuyWrEbHw\">IGCAT\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0(<wbr \/>International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism is an international interdisciplinary network of experts aiming to empower and facilitate local communities to realise the potential of their distinct food, culture, arts, sustainable tourism and other local resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/\">European Region of Gastronomy<\/a> Platform and Award aim to contribute to better quality of life in European regions, by highlighting distinctive food cultures, educating for better health and sustainability and stimulating gastronomic innovation.
