The first to receive this accolade outside Europe, Aseer has prepared a yearly programme of events and initiatives to raise the profile of the region\u2019s gastronomy internationally, as well as instill pride in the local community about their own food identity.<\/p>\n<p>One of the region\u2019s flagship events, the <strong>Aseer Culinary Arts &amp; Gastro-tourism<\/strong><strong>\u00a0Symposium<\/strong> will take place on 23-25 February 2024. Braizat<\/a> \u2013 IGCAT Expert, Jordan<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONCLUSIONS AND NEXT STEPS FOR IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/team\/diane-dodd-phd-spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Diane Dodd<\/a>, IGCAT President<\/p>\n<p>The Symposium will ensure that knowledge and best practices from the World Region of Gastronomy Platform are shared with local stakeholders in order to build stronger connections and encourage collaboration between Aseer and the rest of the member regions.<\/p>\n<p>A second important event will be held in Aseer on 22-26 April, when the <strong>World Region of Gastronomy Platform<\/strong> members will gather for their <strong>27<sup>th<\/sup> meeting<\/strong> to discuss common challenges and learn about projects and initiatives undertaken by different local stakeholders. In this framework, the <strong>5<sup>th<\/sup> World Food Gift Challenge<\/strong> will be held to select the best food and food-related gifts from the World Regions of Gastronomy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the World\/European Regions of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/world-regions-of-gastronomy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World\/European Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to strengthen food security through the celebration of distinctive food cultures; create employment by stimulating creativity and gastronomic innovation; nourish children and adults through culinary and cultural education; driving environmental sustainability in tourism, hospitality and agricultural sectors; supporting balance and sustainable tourism practices; highlighting and supporting expertise from within rural and urban communities, creating connections and sharing good practices; and contributing to community health and well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IGCAT aims to\u00a0<strong>empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance of protecting and promoting distinct regional food, culture, arts and natural assets as part of sustainable and balanced tourism and development strategies.
