{"id":25105,"date":"2022-06-30T12:59:15","date_gmt":"2022-06-30T10:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igcat.org\/?p=25105"},"modified":"2022-12-16T17:57:07","modified_gmt":"2022-12-16T16:57:07","slug":"sicily-officially-joined-the-regions-of-gastronomy-platform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igcat.org\/es\/sicily-officially-joined-the-regions-of-gastronomy-platform\/","title":{"rendered":"Sicily officially joined the Regions of Gastronomy Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Strongly committed to sustainably preserve and promote its food and cultural diversity, <strong>Sicily<\/strong> (Italy) has officially joined the World\/European Regions of Gastronomy Platform and aims to present a candidacy for the 2025 title.<\/p>\n<p>A protocol agreement has been signed between IGCAT and a regional committee of founding stakeholders composed of public, private, third sector and knowledge institutions, and operating under the auspices of the Regional Government of Sicily (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regione.sicilia.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Regione Siciliana<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The committee includes: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consorziodos.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consorzio DOS Sicilia<\/a>, an association for the promotion and enhancement of typical Sicilian agri-food products certified with PDO, IGP and QS (Safe Quality Guaranteed by the Sicily Region) labels; the <a href=\"https:\/\/museocioccolatomodica.business.site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chocolate Museum of Modica<\/a>; the <a href=\"https:\/\/siciliadoc.wine\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consorzio Tutela Vini DOC Sicilia<\/a> (Consortium for the Protection of Sicilian DOC Wines); the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.principigrimaldi.edu.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Principi de Grimaldi Vocational School<\/a> of Modica; and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsseoapiazza.edu.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality I.P.S.S.E.O.A. \u00abPietro Piazza\u201d<\/a> of Palermo.<\/p>\n<p>By joining the World\/European Regions of Gastronomy Platform, at the <strong>regional level<\/strong> Sicily aims at strengthening the collaboration among local stakeholders to enhance the visibility of the local gastronomic, cultural and natural heritage, as well as to build a strategy for regional sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>At the <strong>international level<\/strong>, Sicily is committed to create solid relationships with the other member regions of the Platform by participating in joint projects and sharing knowledge and best practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the World European Regions of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/world-regions-of-gastronomy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Candidate and awarded World\/European Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to strengthen food security through the celebration of distinctive food cultures; create employment by stimulating creativity and gastronomic innovation; nourish children and adults through culinary and cultural education; drive environmental sustainability in tourism, hospitality and agricultural sectors; support balance and sustainable tourism practices; highlight and support expertise from within rural and urban communities, creating connections and sharing good practises; and contribute to community health and well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IGCAT aims to\u00a0<strong>empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance to protect and promote distinct regional food, culture, arts and natural assets as part of sustainable and balanced tourism and development strategies. This is essential to safeguard our planet, health, wellness and local economies.<\/p>\n<p>IGCAT is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism. It counts on the expertise of a worldwide\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/experts\/global-experts-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">network of experts<\/a>\u00a0and works in partnership with specialised intergovernmental organisations.<\/p>\n<p>IGCAT founded the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World\/European\u00a0Region of Gastronomy Award<\/a>\u00a0and is the official secretariat for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/igcat.org\/world-regions-of-gastronomy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World\/European Regions of Gastronomy Platforms<\/a>.
