By putting the spotlight on regional gastronomy, you and your short food film can play a key role in raising awareness about the importance of cultural and food uniqueness, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

THEME

FOOD STORIES

We are hungry for incredible stories starring the food heritage of regions from across the globe!

Each region holds countless fascinating food stories waiting to be told. Local food products, recipes, food producers, chefs, food traditions, food innovations, food techniques and practises, food landscapes or built heritage related to regional gastronomy – to name a few – are all eligible protagonists of your short film.

Eligible topics of the short films include (but are not exclusive to):

  • Environment, sustainability and food
  • Young farmers, fishermen and beekeepers
  • Food-related visitor experiences
  • Food and craft artisanal gifts
  • Young chef ambassadors
  • World and European Regions of Gastronomy nominated, candidate and/or awarded

HOW TO ENTER

Read the rules and deadlines detailed in the open call document very closely. If your film complies with the standards and regulations listed, proceed to fill out a submission.

SUBMISSION LINKS

OPTION 1 – Submit through FilmFreeway

OPTION 2 – Submit via email

Fill in the submission form and send it to communications@igcat.org (subject: FOOD FILM MENU 2024 SUBMISSION) together with a link to your film/video (in case of first releases, you can send your film/video as a password protected file on Vimeo.com or as an unlisted video on YouTube).

SELECTION & AWARDS

An international jury of experts in the food and film sectors will select up to 10 Best Films, as well as award the Best Young Director (chosen among the eligible submissions). The winners will be announced as the Food Film Menu 2024 in September 2024 on IGCAT’s website and social media.

An online vote will then open on IGCAT’s social media to select the Public’s Favourite Films.

Circumstances permitting, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Prize and the Public’s Favourite Film will be officially announced at an Award Ceremony to be organised in September 2024, where all category winners will be screened for an international audience and filmmakers will be invited to join.

All winners will be promoted and offered as a menu to film festivals throughout the globe.

All winners will be permanently showcased in the Food Film Menu section on IGCAT’s website and YouTube channel, and promoted through IGCAT’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn).
