IGCAT has developed a range of training materials – from short courses to full modules that aim to widen and deepen our understanding of local development and destination management.

IGCAT uses an interdisciplinary approach in all training and teaching matters as well as, encouraging a service-learning approach wherever possible.

Subjects covered include:

  • Gastronomy and Cultural Image Management (City and Region Branding)
  • Importance of Supporting Food Traditions and Food Cultures
  • Destination Management
  • Cultural Routes and SME development
  • Cultural Institutions and Policies (Interntional, National, Regional and Local)
  • The role of cultural institutions and operators in local development (including freedom of expression)
  • Foundations and support for culture and diversity
  • Networking in and beyond Europe
  • Galvanising public, private, third sector and knowledge institutions support for local and regional development

Clients include the International University of Catalonia, EUHTStPol, University of Barcelona, THRIC (Ireland), Committee of the Regions, European Institute of Cultural Routes, United Nations World Tourism Organisation (Themis Foundation).
